Science - Heart Rate

 

Today at technology in science we our topic was about heart rate.

Firstly we had to watch a video to get a understanding of low blood pressure and high blood pressure. low blood pressure can be caused by internal bleeding or blood loss, also it can be caused by eating junk food. High blood pressure can be caused by not enough water  eating to much junk food or even by salt. Also high blood pressure can give you  stress or red eyes and also caused by not enough sleep. after the video we were given a smart watch, tennis ball and a timer. Next we had task to complete and there were 6 of them to test our heart rate. first it was sitting down and I got 74mmHg next it was jogging and I got 96mmHg and the list goes on. The last task  is running as fast as you can for 30s and my heart rate was 154mmHg, also the smart watch records our heart  rate. lastly we had to finish off our template and it easy.

Today at technology it was a fun experiment because it wasn't to much work and it was fun.

Science: Bubble Science

 Technology today was fun because we were making bubbles.

Firstly we watched a video about how to make bubbles, the bubbles are made from water and soap. The water and soap are layered soap then water and another layer of soap, also the soap can have different colours if it reflects from the sun. if you use different shapes of wands it will still be shaped as a sphere because the air inside the bubble keeps its shape but there was no water inside the bubble will flop.

After watching the video we made our own equipment and liquid. Firstly we used the beaker and filled up half which was 125ml with water. Next we used a spatula which looks like a spoon and had to weigh 5 grams of sugar and tip it into the water. After we've tipped the sugar into the beaker we stir the sugar until it dissolves. After the sugar dissolves we went to another and used detergent and glycerol to make our bubble liquid. Firstly we used a syringe to suck up 10 ml of detergent and 3 ml of glycerol.

Mrs Sharma gave us three straws two small and 1 big straw also she gave use a wire type thing to us. We used the wire type thing you shape it into a circle wand and dip it into the liquid and blew bubble. The first task we done was very difficult for some of us because we had to make a caterpillar. The caterpillar was hard because the bubbles kept on popping. Also the different types of bubble no one could create was the cube bubble and the carousel. Only one of the student could make the cube bubble.

Today at technology was very fun and interesting because blowing the bubbles were fun to make but difficult at the same time.

Science: Flower Power

Today at Technology my group were learning about flowers.

Today we were learning about the hibiscus. We were watching a video about how to dissect the flower, firstly you'll need a sharp knife or a butter knife just to cut down the middle. but it was tricky for us because the stigma snapped off easily so we had to be very careful when cutting the hibiscus. After we've dissected the hibiscus we carefully separate the  parts inside the hibiscus.

When we finished dissecting the hibiscus we could see the different parts of the hibiscus like the novel was very tiny and you could barely see the seeds inside it, we put the different parts of the hibiscus on the cutting board so we could get a clear view of the different parts. 

After viewing the different parts we used the ovule under the microscope but before it went under the microscope we had to use the knife or something blunt to mash up and place it on the glass and a little drop of water and then put a small piece of glass over the ovule. We put the ovule under the microscope and if you put it under some sunlight you can see the little parts clearly.

At technology today it was very interesting and fun because we got to use the microscope and it was some of our first time using it. It was cool to see the little particles and it was a clear view.

Science Topic 3 - Floating or Sinking

 Today at technology, we were learning about how something floats and sinks.

Firstly we were told to write down what was on the screen on a google doc. Next we watched a video about floating and sinking. The video was interesting and had new vocabulary, I learnt what buoyancy was, buoyancy is something that is sinking or floating. After the video our teacher Mrs Shamar asked us question about the vocabulary we learnt. The words we learnt is Density, Buoyancy, semi float and periscope. density is what size of a object is and the weight of it and periscope is what's used on a submarine and it's night vision. Semi float is when the object is half in the water and half above the water. In the video there was a man named Archimedes principle and the man was to find out a new project he wanted to work on and when he got into the water the water rises because he was more dense but if he was light the water would've never raised so he hopped out of the bath and ran out naked and screaming loudly. After the video we each had to pair into twos and we each had our own bucket to fill 2/3  full. Then we each grabbed an object and in total there was 11 objects, we had measure, weigh, composition(what's it made of), Predicting (if it float or not) and buoyancy results meaning if it floats or not. if a object is more dense it's most likely to sink but if it's less dense or has air it will float but if there's little bit of air it will semi float. Lastly we packed away our objects and emptied out the water and handed it over to Mrs Shamar.

Today at technology it was a fun experiment and was very enjoyable. The part I liked about the session was when we had to weigh the object and to see if it was buoyancy.

Dissolving sugar- Solution

 Today at tech , we were using the equipment to measure and weigh.

At technology today, we started off the day with sharing our folders with or science teacher Mrs. Sharma which I hadn't done. Next Mrs. Sharma gave us tasks to do while she's busy and we just wrote down the names of the equipment as a revision to see if we still know. Then Mrs. sharma told us to close all or chromebook and pay attention, she gave us equipment such as a beaker, petri dish, stirring rod, weighing machine and a spatula but a laboratory spatula. After that we went to our own stations, we filled up the beaker with cold water upto 100 mls exact. Then we had to weigh 10 grams exact on the weighing machine and we used the spatula to tip the sugar on the petri dish. Next we added it into the beaker with water and it took 1 minute 2 seconds to dissolve and we don the same thing with hot water and the results were 22 seconds.

The comparison between the hot water and cold water is amazing the time space is like 40 seconds. When we tipped the sugar in the water it looked like crystals. The experiment was cool to do, in my opinion science tech is alright.

Equipment names - laboratory

 Today at technology we were learning the names of the laboratory equipment and what it's used for.

Firstly we started off by giving sheets of paper to the class and on it was the names of the equipment. Most of the equipment that were on the paper were not familiar to me because I've never learnt it, but I done pretty well. Each person from each table had to go up and choose equipment from the box and had to say the name of the equipment they chose, I chose the funnel because that was the easiest to me. Next we had a break and had to measure 50 ml exact and tip it into a beaker it was difficult because Mrs Wong said do it again because it wasn't exact. After that we finished off our doc and it was just naming all the equipment we learnt and all together there was 21 equipment we named. Luckily we didn't have to write the purpose of each equipment because it would've of took forever to complete.

Science is alright to me because our reliever was chill today, but she didn't really know her science equipment which was kind of funny / weird because i thought science teachers were suppose to know what science is. But she was a really cool and fun teacher I hope we have her again.

Making pikelets

Today i mad banana pikelets

Today we done our routine before cooking and our routine is put on an a print grab dishwashing liquid and a towel then lastly we wash our hands. After washing our hands we grabbed our ingredients which was flour, custard, sugar, salt ,butter and blueberry.

When we were making our batter we had to grab the equipment we needed then we added our ingredients together and while we were making it we made a bunch of mess and we had to clean a lot of dishes. When the dishes were done we added all of our ingredients and we mixed it together.

After mixing the ingredients together we heated up our pan and added butter but bit by bit of butter then fried one pikelet at a time. when we were frying me and Honor  made 4 each for me and him and we added our ice cream and we added a bunch of it.

At the end of the session our pikelets looked funny because of all the ice cream but it still tasted nice.

Everything we've learnt about MBots

Today at technology we put together everything we've learnt   about MBots.

Today we did a really difficult task because what we learnt about the MBots these few weeks we had to put everything together and it was really difficult and tiring because of all the codes we had to input. But before we got into coding Mr Krishna gave us free time for like 20 - 30 minutes of free time and I was really happy because we played different types of games then Mr gave us quizizz about the MBot and it was really fun. Then we went onto coding and it was the worst because of all the codes we had to input but it was still fun but difficult at the same time.

At the end of the session we had some more free time because we just had like 10 - 15 more minutes of free time and it was really fun.

Object Avoidance

Today at technology we learnt about the ultrasonic sensor.

Today we focused on the ultrasonic sensor. When we done coding on the MBot we learnt how to make the MBot go backwards when there's an object in front of it. Coding today was a bit challenging because of how much coding we had to do because our warmup before working with the MBot today took about 30 minutes to complete. After our warmup we done the object coding and it was kind of hard because it was challenging finding the right code then we completed the task that was given to us and it was fun.

At the end of technology we had a fun time coding and learning about the ultrasonic sensor   

Robotics MBot

Today at Technology we made a figure eight.

Today at robotics class we had to make a figure and it was a bit complicated because there was a lot of coding to put in. When we were doing coding we had a big paper of a figure eight and on the MBot there is a part called the line follower and the ultrasonic sensor. The ultrasonic sensor senses the object around the area and the line follower follows the black lines on the figure eight and it was really fun because there were weird moves that the MBot making.

At the end of the session we had fun because we did quizzes and we got a prize if we came first and it was really fun.

Today in technology we learnt how to move an MBot

When we arrived at our tech class we first took a seat and listened to our tech teacher Mr Krishna. Then we took out our chromebooks and visited a website. We first had to take a small test about the MBot to see if you remember where the buttons and everything were.

After we finished doing the test about the MBot. We went to do coding but before doing coding Mr Krishna told us to make a copy about the slide. Then Mr Krishna  told us to scroll down to task number 1 and gave us instructions of what to do. Then we went back onto coding and we did the basics first but it didn't take long to figure out how to move the MBot.

In robotics it’s really fun because the teacher is very nice and not that serious about us completing our work. He's also a chill teacher.

Technology

Today in technology we learnt how to do coding on a small device called Mbot. Also the cool thing about these robotic machines, is that it can talk and move at the same time.

When we arrived at the robotics class we first took a seat then we took out our chromebooks and opened it then we visited a website about a small device called the Mbot. After visiting the website we had to do coding which was very fun. Next we had a small test about the Mbot to see if you know the parts of the Mbot and it was a very interesting test in my opinion.

After we finished doing the test we went straight onto the Mbots and we were learning how to make sounds come out from the Mbot. We used coding to make sounds and we had an image about the sound we were supposed to make and it was the happy birthday song but it took awhile to make but it was fun.

Today in technology it was fun because we got to do coding and how to make sound come out of the Mbot and that was really fun.
